Publishing rights remain with Electronic Arts. On SeptemTHQ Nordic announced it had acquired Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning in addition to its related intellectual property, including the cancelled MMO Copernicus project. The first public demonstration was at Penny Arcade Expo East 2011, held in Boston, Massachusetts, United States on March 11, 2011. The game was released on February 7th, 2012, in North America and February 10th, 2012, in Europe. It was developed by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games. Salvatore created the game universe and lore, with Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn, working on the artwork. Ken Rolston, the lead designer of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, acts as the game's exclusive designer. It was created as a MMO, but it eventually turned into a RPG.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a single-player action role-playing game for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
